Dexter started going blind at the age of 2 due to a rare eye infection that was permanent, jumped out of a car window as a puppy and was savagely attacked by a coyote at age 10. I miss you so badly, and regrat that I did not do more for you when you were with me. But you know that you are so deeply loved; you are always my precious little baby and always in my heart. Your ashes are placed beside Jiajia's in my bedroom, so the first thing in the morning when I wake up is seeing you and Jiajia beside me like when you were in this earthly life. I know you and Jiajia are still around me, protecting me, but I cannot see you, which is a such a big suffering to me. God will let you and Jiajia be re-united with me when my time comes. He was the most gentle, calm and loving dog I've ever known. All he wanted was love and a place to belong. He found it with us. He became family. Cowboy suddenly collapsed and died at home two days before Thanksgiving from congestive heart failure brought on by an inherited heart disease, dilated cardiomyopathy. He was diagnosed 18 months ago, and during his illness he took many pills, and thanks to God, retained a good quality of life. I researched the internet for months in hopes of finding any new treatment that might help him overcome this terrible disease. Cowboy loved rides, walks, back massages, laying in the sun, playing with our other dog (a black lab), being on squirrel watch in the backyard, chewing his bones, snuggling in bed, and constant love and affection. He took a piece of our hearts with him. Cowboy is and always will be loved by us and dearly missed. I cry for him every day. I'm struggling with hoping he's in heaven with a chance to see him again and worrying that he's in oblivion with no hope of ever seeing him again. The pain from his loss is unbearable.
